Use of a Pair of Pulse-Charged Grounded Metal Nets as an Electrostatic Soil Cover for Eradicating Weed Seedlings

An electrostatic technique was developed to generate a simple physical method eradicate weeds in crop fields. The proposed apparatus consisted of double-expanded metal nets connected pulse-charging type negative voltage generator and grounded line. two were arranged parallel at an interval (6 mm) that caused no arc (spark) discharge between the negatively charged net (NC-MN) (G-MN). paired used as soil cover zap weed seedlings emerging from ground. As plant are biological conductors, seedling subjected upper when it emerged passed through lower strong enough destroy with single exposure. treatment highly effective for eradicating successively mono- dicotyledonous seedlings, regardless number coexisting or area netted field. Thus, present study provides reliable eradication could be integrated into sustainable production system.
